Thanks to the hard work of the Pyrs’ wonderful volunteers, we are thrilled to announce our 2018 calendar contest! All Pyrs — adopted through us or not — are welcome to compete for the honor of being a CGPR calendar Pyr and gracing the cover or one of the twelve months! Pyr people, we need you to submit photos and get out the vote for your favorite Pyrs. Click the link below to enter. Let’s get this rolling in style — we’ll send the first person to enter a CGPR t-shirt!

Over 110 humans and 50 Pyrs pawticipated (ha!) in today’s homecoming Pyr-nic. We raised over $2,000 for rescue AND had a great time. We have a fully gallery of photos from the event on our facebook page.

Happy Birthday to CGPR founder
Martha Rehmeyer!

The Pyrnic will Sunday April 30th this year-
more details to follow soon.

In 2016, CGPR rehomed 113 Pyrs. Thank you to our supporters! As we celebrate 25 years of saving Pyrs in the Carolinas, we look forward to sharing so many more happy milestones!

Welcome to our updated webpage! We’ve been busy over the holiday break updating the look and functionality in time to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Carolina Great Pyrenees Rescue! Founded by Martha Rehmeyer and her beloved Pyr Charlie in 1992, CGPR continues to celebrate all that she achieved as president, and the work of CGPR’s current officers and volunteers builds on the solid foundation Martha laid. Led by president Shannon Meehan, we remain committed to rehabilitating and rehoming abused and abandoned Pyrs in the Carolinas.

Last year, we relocated to Indian Trail, NC and transitioned the rescue to new leadership while placing 113 Pyrs. This is going to be another great year for us. Please join us in celebrating CGPR’s first 25 years and bright future by marching in the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Charlotte and attending the Pyr-nic this spring.
