We had an unexpected intake today.

A Good Samaritan found this puppy in the road and rushed her to us. We are grateful that this woman acted quickly and didn't leave this baby to die.

Shannon immediately began caring for her, and this little one saw our veterinarian, too.

We've notified animal control in the county where this pup was found--an area known for backyard breeders.

It isn't just that one person did this. Surely, other people saw the condition this puppy was in before today. Why has no one spoken up or helped before now? This girl is approximately 10 weeks old.

Someone dumped her to die. No other pups were with her. Were there others in the litter? Where are the parents? What condition are they in?

There's no excuse for this.

None.

She is on stray hold with us, but we suspect that whoever left her on the roadside intended for her to get hit by a car and die. We may never learn that person's name, but we sincerely wish that person (or those people) what they deserve. ... See MoreSee Less

We need to apologize...to Paulie the Pyratolian!

When posting about our delightful mixes this morning for #MixMonday, we forgot to include Paulie. Well, he raised a fuss about it, and here we are!

If you have ever had the good fortune of knowing a Pyratolian, you have had the pleasure of being with a dog that is goofy, stubborn, and needy in equal measure.

Paulie is a derpy boy, and he likes to be with people and chill. Take these pictures of him riding shotgun as evidence. Paulie likes some other dogs, particularly feisty females. Really. He can be adopted into a home with a female who is his match in sass. No mellow dogs for this boy. Give him a girl who is hard to handle, and he is happy.

He also needs a guardian-breed experienced owner who is prepared for him to push some boundaries, especially around other dogs. He thrives with positive correction. He would be happy as an only-dog, too. No small kiddos for Paulie.

Hattie and Halo inspected the haul that Ms. Coomey's 2nd grade class and others at Selywn Elementary collected for the rescue Pyrs! They gave Ms. Coomey a few kisses, too!

The rescue Pyrs say thanks to all who contributed! We love how they do their service project. What a great way to help kids learn that the most effective way to support charities is to ask what is needed. This flyer with our current wish list is pawsome!
