#CGPRAlum Molly and Claude came back to us after a change of circumstances with their first family. Meg and Holden, recently approved to adopt, wanted Pyrs who were known to be good with little humans. That describes Molly and Claude Pyrfectly, and now they have two new little human siblings to protect!
Jarvis is a special Pyr. His owners reached out to us six weeks ago when they learned that they were being stationed overseas. They love him very much, and Jarvis has been well-cared for, but his owners wisely decided this was too much of a trip for an older Pyr. Could we help them?
Even when we are full, we say yes to those in our nation`s armed forces. No one serving our country should be worried about what will happen to their Pyr when they have to leave their dog because of a deployment.
Jarvis`s owner checked on him regularly since he brought him to us. We are so happy that we were able to tell him that his boy is in another loving home with longtime friends of the rescue Kathy and Donna. They came to Pyrnic to meet him, and that was that. Shannon handed them his leash, and Jarvis acted like he had known Kathy and Donna his whole life. Dogs know. Especially old dogs.
Kathy and Donna have adopted half a dozen Pyrs from us over the years, and after their last Pyr passed away, their house felt a little...empty. When we shared that Jarvis was looking for a home, they opened theirs. During this stressful transition for Jarvis`s first owners--moving overseas with two small children and another on the way--Kathy and Donna helped us make it all a little easier for them to know that Jarvis is loved.
We are so grateful that we can say yes to families like Jarvis`s first owners and know that Pyr people like Kathy and Donna are going to make room in their hearts for dogs like this.
The rescue Pyrs` graphic designer was traveling for work this week, and we didn`t get images posted for #FureverHomeFriday. For that reason, this week we are celebrating #SentThemHomeSaturday! LOLOLOL
"Skinny" Johnny came to us in July from our shelter partners at Lincoln County Animal Services. This sweet Pyr mix puppy was emaciated and covered in cuts and sores when we picked him up. (Second photo)
His backstory was a sad one -- neglected and dumped -- like so many Pyrs across the Carolinas, but Pyrs in this shape are our specialty. A couple months of nourishment, love, and medicated baths later...
...Johnny is in wonderful condition, a happy boy, and now adopted! He left the rescue for his #FureverHome with Laura and is thriving. (Third photo)
Johnny is a posterPyr for the kind of dogs we help and the work we do. Our biggest fundraiser of the year has one week left. Please consider supporting us by entering your Pyrs, voting for one of the contestants, reserving a date for your Pyr`s photo, or buying calendars.
All proceeds help us to help more dogs like Johnny! Click the link in the bio to support us!
And the last #FureverHomeFriday picture for this week is ... Vern!
Kaaren loved this sweet old boy at first sight. Vern is deaf and a senior, but he understands what kisses and hugs mean.
The last picture is of Vern napping in his own home this afternoon. We are pretty sure that Vern has never enjoyed life in a quiet, comfy house until now, and we are so grateful that Kaaren and her sister Michele made our dream for him come true. No silver snout should be in a shelter or kennel.
Wishing all the Pyrs who went home this week the sweetest dreams in their new homes... 😴🥰
#FureverHomeFriday continues with Fianna (right), who came to us from a shelter partner and was "transport failed."
What is that, you ask?
Well, we made it up. 😂🤣
It is like "foster failing," and we are saying it means that #CGPR president Shannon asked Greg and Jessica to give this sweet girl a lift from the shelter to the rescue, and by the time they all arrived in Marshville, Greg and Jessica decided that she was the Pyrfect match for #CGPRAlum Finnegan and were picking out a new name for her.
And, of course, this "failing" is winning! Congrats to all!
#FureverHomeFriday continues with Marley (left), adopted by Joe and Coleen and #CGPRAlum Duncan (formerly Walther) and Beau (adopted from our friends at Appalachian Great Pyrenees Rescue).
Marley is now called Mabel, and she already has a job as the CCO (Chief Cuteness Overlord) at @pyrpawmarketing .
Thanks to our friends at Mayberry 4 Paws for working with us to help Mabel and for @lizoliver24 and Bob (along with Tito, Stoli, and Ciroc) for fostering Mabel.
We have finalized the adoption of a sweet Pyr who has been in rescue for many months now!
Penny, formerly Peony, came to us in 2023 when her family situation was no longer a safe one.
At that time, she suffered from a skin condition and a prominent limp. She needed good nourishment for her coat and two surgeries on her knee to regain her mobility. Thank you to all who donated to cover the cost of her care and our friends at Commonwealth Animal Hospital and Dogwood Veterinary Surgery for taking the best care of Penny.
Well, Whitney and Joe, who have been fostering Penny, decided that they couldn`t let her go, and so she is now an official member of their family! Here she is on the left posing with her brother Mac (right). Look at those smiles! That`s love!
