Got a little dust in our eyes over here...

Two five-month-old boys named Biscuit and Gravy came to us through a shelter partner today.

Y'all know Jeni and Jaxon from the many freedom ride pictures that we have posted of this mother-son duo bringing Pyrs to rescue over the years.

Well, Jaxon, the adorable *little* boy in the all those pictures, is now old enough to drive while Jeni rode co-pilot! That happened too fast! But the good news is that we have another experienced transport driver now! 😂😍

Big thanks to David and Carla for picking up the "Breakfast Boys" from the shelter and Jaxon and Jeni for doing the second leg of the transport.

Shannon has groomed Andre, and he already feels better!

We estimate this boy to be 2-3 years old.

His skin and ears are a textbook example of the bacterial and fungal infections that come with neglect, but that is treatable with antibiotics, medicated baths, good nutrition, and time.

Miraculously, Andre is negative for heartworms!

This boy is going to sleep well tonight with clean fur, soothed skin, and a full belly!

Andre is on his way to the rescue from the Gaston Co. shelter.

These pictures aren't easy to look at. He is emaciated (64 lbs.), matted, and filthy, and it took a long time for it to get this bad for him. His skin and coat are a mess.

But look in those eyes. Andre wants to feel better.

By the end of the day, Andre will have been groomed and have had a medicated bath to soothe his itchy skin. He will have had his first dinner with all the extra calories and nutrients he needs to gain weight. He will be sleeping in a clean, warm, and dry kennel tonight.

Andre's glow-up starts now.

Thanks to Jeni for giving this stinky boy a lift!

On this Giving Tuesday, we are happy to promote a giving option that many supporters have asked for over the years and that helps us budget for routine veterinary care like neuters/spays and vaccines.

Through PayPal, we are able to accept recurring monthly donations at any level. $5. $10. $25 or more. It all helps and adds up to cover the basics we need to provide each month.

Unlike the major national animal charities, we don't have an advertising budget for tv commercials and mass mailings. We don't send spam emails or flood your phone with text messages. If you donate to us, you won't get another "free" tote bag or plush animal because your money goes to caring for the Pyrs.

What we DO HAVE is a committed group of volunteers who do this work without compensation and a proven track record of placing thousands of dogs in loving homes over thirty years!

If you are looking to give to a reputable animal rescue and make a measurable difference with your gift, we would be honored to have your support each month!

Click here to set up a monthly donation at any amount!

Thanks, too, for likes and shares!

Happy #makeovermonday!

Can we take a minute and brag?

Kyle and Kiki are stunning dogs. Kyle, who we think is full Pyr, is breathtakingly handsome. We suspect that Kiki is a Pyr/shepherd mix, and she is lovely.

When they came to us earlier in the fall, Kyle and Kiki were skinny, dirty, and unsure around humans.

A few months later, they are healthy, gorgeous, and enjoy getting pets from people. They are confident that they will be cared for by people who will be kind to them.

This darling bonded pair are looking for one family, and they are ready for their own home for the howl-idays. They should be the only large dogs, but they can perhaps join a household with small dogs. They are cat-friendly, and they would be a wonderful match for a family with kids.

To learn more about any of the dogs in our care, read about our adoption process and fill out an application to schedule a meet-and-greet at carolinapyrrescue.com.

A friendly and useful piece of information for my Pyr girlies...the women's fitted t-shirts run small. Order 2 sizes up! I wear a L in most fitted t-shirts/ladies cuts, and wear a 2X in these shirts...if I want to breathe and leave some room for holiday treats!

Folks have been asking how the Pyrs with limb strangulation injuries have been recovering.

Well, first...great! We have included before-and-nows. We are more confident that we will be able to save the legs. The wounds are healing beautifully! If you don't want to see the full-size photos of the graphic wounds, don't click on the photos.

Second, we think these two are Akbash dogs, which is a Turkish livestock guardian breed. Their coat and tails differ from those of Pyrs, but they share many of the same qualities we love--gentle, loyal, and protective.

King Bumi and Turtle Duck are incredibly sweet, and we likely will try to place them as a bonded pair.

Visit carolinapyrrescue.com to read the Pyrs' profiles, learn about our adoption process, and fill out an application to schedule a meet-and-greet.
