Sassy Star is waiting for her furever family. This confident girl is a poster-Pyr for the breed. She's got Pyrpinions, and she's loving and devoted to her people.
Star will thrive in an experienced home with folks who love the breed and the big Pyrsonalities that many Pyrs have....
She can share a home with another dog as long as he is male and confident. Older kids ok, too!
To meet Star or any of our wonderful Pyrs, please fill out an application to schedule a meet-and-greet at carolinapyrrescue.com.
Thanks for likes and shares!
My Pyrs and I are watching the opening ceremonies in Paris together! Our favorite breed once served as the dogs of the French royal court after all!
Meet Kitana!
This beautiful young female is about three years old.
Like her namesake in Mortal Kombat, she is brave, beautiful, and confident!
Kitana loves attention from all humans, large and small, and she would thrive as the center of attention as an only dog. She ...might enjoy sharing a home with the right male dog -- she can be dog selective but enjoys many calmer male dogs.
She doesn't like being in her kennel, and she would be happiest in a home where she could have run of the house and where her owners are often present. She would be a great work-from-home buddy or companion for a retiree.
Kitana is ready for her furever home. To meet her or any of our wonderful dogs, please read our policies and fill out an application at carolinapyrrescue.com to schedule a meet-and-greet.

We are trying some new things to get the word out about the wonderful dogs in our care and drive new viewers to our social media. In that spirit, welcome to True Love Tuesday!
Shall we talk about how wonderful bonded pairs are?!
Sometimes, we take in dogs who are have lived ...together. Other times, we have two dogs who meet at the rescue and click. One of the advantages to caring for our adoptable dogs in one place is that we can socialize the dogs with one another, and they often find a friend. Some become very attached.
Abby and Mikey are two of those dogs. Both are young adults who are dog-selective in certain contexts. Abby doesn't like domineering dogs who are all up in her business, and Mikey is social but can sometimes bully other male dogs. He loves a female who doesn't take his sh*t!
They came in separately, and Shannon and her staff thought...let's see how this goes and introduced them. Abby loves Mikey, and the feeling is mutual. They play beautifully together, and they have become the closest of friends.
We will place them separately, but we would love to find one home for them together. Folks who have bonded pairs, what is the best thing about having two Pyrs? Post in the thread!
We are scheduling appointments for approved adopters to come meet the Pyrs in August. If you would like to welcome one...or two...wonderful Pyrs into your home, please read our policies and fill out an application at carolinapyrrescue.com.

Big wags of the tail to our friends at Lincoln County Animal Services for taking good care of a sweet, young male Pyr mix until one of our fosters could take him.
This little guy is approximately six months old, and he has been horribly neglected. At intake, he weighed 25 pounds, and, as ...you can see in the second photo, he was emaciated.
Well, a week later and after good veterinary care, lots of meals, and all the lovies, he is 29 pounds, and he is a happy, silly boy who is feeling GREAT!
We decided to name him Johnny after our longtime volunteer John Adams, Gracie and Stella's human. John takes the wonderful photographs at our events, and he did a heroic job helping to assemble the kennels at the Pyrs' new building. Truly, John put his problem-solving skills to work for the rescue Pyrs on what was a giant puzzle, and we are so grateful!
When this sweet little guy arrived at his foster home, he figured out how to open the lock on his Pyrpartment in about five minutes. Like his namesake, Johnny is *super* smart! The picture of Johnny smiling was taken when he rearranged his bedding...to be under the A/C vent! Again, smart boy!
Look for updates on Johnny as he puts on some pounds!
It takes a village, but this is what hope looks like!
Although Johnny isn't ready to leave us yet, we are caring for nearly three dozen wonderful Pyrs who are! We are scheduling adoption visits for August. To meet our wonderful Pyrs, please fill out the application at carolinapyrrescue.com.
Shall we end the week with good news?
The last adoption at the old location was...Rain, a sweet girl who came to us from our shelter partner in Anson County.
Cassidy, Matthew, Madeline, Felix, Westley, and Pepper decided that she is their Pyrfect match!

At the end of the day, the people who matter smile with their whole body when they see you.
If you are lucky, some of those "people" are Pyrs!

Handsome Shaw is waiting for his furever home. This energetic, social boy will thrive with active owners in a home with other playful dogs. While sweet, he might be too rowdy for families with small children, but experienced owners committed to helping him mind his manners could reinforce what he ...has learned in rescue.
Shaw came to us when his first owner became housing insecure and brought him to a public shelter. Homelessness is one of the many reasons that people reach out to us to surrender good dogs that they love and for which they would love to keep caring. For many people, moving into a friend or relative's home or a shelter situation means surrendering beloved pets. Shaw's story is one we see half a dozen or so times each year.
We can't wait until Shaw has a home of his own again! He is ready: neutered, vaccinated, and negative for heartworms.
Late summer and early fall are the Pyrfect time to adopt! We are making appointments for approved adopters to visit the rescue beginning in early August. If you would like to adopt a Pyr, please read our policies and fill out an application at carolinapyrrescue.com.
Thank you for likes and shares! Shaw appreciates it!
