Precious Ali came to us through guardian angels, neighbors of her owner who recognized that she was wounded and needed veterinary care that she wasn't getting. We think that she was hit by a car. Scans revealed multiple fractures of her pelvis that have healed. Her other injuries are more obvious: she's missing two toes and a third was damaged. In addition, Ali arrived to rescue with an open wound on her foot pad, which was missing. After time, TLC, and multiple vet visits, Ali's foot is healing beautifully. The wound has closed, and she is developing a keratin layer on her pad again. It takes time for pads to grow back. Ali is wearing a bootie to help the process along. Ali is a happy girl, and she can continue to rock her boot and heal in a #FureverHome. Ali will thrive in just about any home. She gets along with male dogs her size, smaller dogs of either sex, and probably could share her home with another mellow, large family. She would be great with kids! It is #TrueLoveTuesday! Let's talk about Sam and Gardenia. We aren't calling them a bonded pair yet, but they sure have fun rumpusing together and have become playmates while at the rescue. Sam, who is about three years old, came from our friends at the Watauga Humane Society. He is a big, silly, and sweet boy who loves to play. He came to us underweight, but he has filled out, fluffed up, and is ready for his best life. That can be in a home with a playful female dog his size or his bestie rescue buddy, Gardenia. Let's talk about Luca on #MixMonday! Luca came to us as an owner surrender after he wasn't the right fit for his first family. The rescue that originally placed him said he is a Pyr/Newf/Chessie mix, and this has been the subject of great debate at our rescue. We don't see the latter two breeds in his appearance. At all. Also, he *acts* like a husky. For this reason, we are going with Pyr/husky/lab mix and hoping that whoever adopts this boy will do another DNA test and let us know the results! Luca is learning manners around other dogs at the rescue. He is part of the juvenile play group, and the others dogs are being wonderful teachers. He is vocal -- like a husky -- and likes drama -- like a husky -- but he also wants to belong and fit in. Luca is incredibly sweet. With the right owners and canine siblings, he will thrive in his #ForeverHome! We are sharing a new profile to kick off #MixMonday! Dude came to us from a shelter partner in the mountains in the aftermath of Helene. This sweet young male is going to be a BIG boy when he is fully grown. We suspect he is a Great Pyrenees and Anatolian Shepherd mix, which is a wonderful blend. He is social and enjoys the company of other dogs in his playgroup at the rescue, and he would do well joining a family with a large, social female dog. He is a good match for a family with kids. Little Quigley is a firecracker! He has a big Pyrsonality in a small package! Quigley loves to play and will thrive in a home with other active dogs. He is a Velcro Pyr and needs all the love all the time. He would be a good match for an active family where he can be included and go along for the fun! Older kids are ok. He might be too wild for small kids, but he will settle down as he matures. Billy was abandoned.

Someone tied him to a tree in rural North Carolina and left him. Perhaps to die.

But he was found. A man and his dog heard Billy crying and contacted animal control.

Billy needs groceries and to gain some weight, but this sweet young adult is going to be ok. He is as precious as can be, and he already is embracing his best life.

Billy will be neutered next week and can continue to gain weight in his #fureverhome.

#TrueLoveTuesday is a good time to remind you to give your Pyr their monthly heartworm preventative. We have to take care of the hearts of these big loving dogs!

Sweet Rocky, who came to us through our friends at Animal Advocates of Moore County NC, will leave us for a wonderful #fureverhome once he has completed treatment for heartworms.

This disease is increasingly common and totally preventable. Treatment is costly and time-consuming. Make sure you take care of this chore each month! ... See MoreSee Less

The cool thing about doing dog rescue is that when humans act foolish, we already are surrounded by dogs....and are going to respond to negativity by ignoring it and....helping more dogs!

Darling Rosie is a pocket Pyr, which is a term we use for those floofs who are on the smaller side. She's in the 65 lbs. range.

Don't let the small package deceive you, however. She has a BIG Pyrsonality and will thrive with owners experienced with sassy girls of this breed.

We don't begrudge her that Pyrtitude. She came to us through a shelter partner and was part of an animal cruelty seizure. Her joyful, spunky vibe is a reminder of how resilient dogs are. She is chasing happiness head on now!

For that reason, Rosie is not a good match for a family with other female dogs and small dogs. She might make a great rumpus buddy for a large male dog who likes to play rough and can hold his own with feisty females!

Rosie is spayed, vaccinated, and negative for heartworms.

She is ready for her #FureverHome now!
